Vulnerability Details : CVE-2023-41175
A vulnerability was found in libtiff due to multiple potential integer overflows in raw2tiff.c. This flaw allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service or possibly execute an arbitrary code via a crafted tiff image, which triggers a heap-based buffer overflow.
Vulnerability category: OverflowDenial of service

CWE ids for CVE-2023-41175
-
A heap overflow condition is a buffer overflow, where the buffer that can be overwritten is allocated in the heap portion of memory, generally meaning that the buffer was allocated using a routine such as malloc().Assigned by: secalert@redhat.com (Primary)
-
The product performs a calculation that can produce an integer overflow or wraparound when the logic assumes that the resulting value will always be larger than the original value. This occurs when an integer value is incremented to a value that is too large to store in the associated representation. When this occurs, the value may become a very small or negative number.Assigned by:
- nvd@nist.gov (Secondary)
- secalert@redhat.com (Primary)
-
The product performs a calculation to determine how much memory to allocate, but an integer overflow can occur that causes less memory to be allocated than expected, leading to a buffer overflow.Assigned by: secalert@redhat.com (Secondary)
