The ChilkatHttp.ChilkatHttp.1 and ChilkatHttp.ChilkatHttpRequest.1 ActiveX controls in ChilkatHttp.dll 2.4.0.0, 2.3.0.0, and earlier in ChilkatHttp ActiveX expose the unsafe SaveLastError method, which allows remote attackers to overwrite arbitrary files. This issue only applies when running the HTTP ActiveX from within Internet Explorer. The Chilkat HTTP ActiveX component includes methods that are capable of reading and writing files. If the HTTP ActiveX is to be hosted within Internet Explorer, it should be downloaded from a trusted site and the ActiveX DLL should be signed. (Chilkat provides signed DLLs upon request, and the CABs downloadable from Chilkats website, http://www.chilkatsoft.com, are digitally signed.)
